Located in the beautiful mountains of Montana, Cavanaugh Academy has a reputation as one of the best and most respected private schools in North America. Cavanaugh Academy has amazing performance in academics, athletics, and the arts. The school was founded in 1774, making it one of the oldest schools in the nation. The students invited to Cavanaugh Academy are the above and beyond the best at their old schools. Attending Cavanaugh Academy is a huge honor and accomplishment...right?
Cavanaugh Academy is home to a dark, deadly secret. The students of Cavanaugh Academy are more than human. They're vampires, were-animals, witches, wizards, gifted humans, and more. The students at Cavanaugh Academy are their for their own protection- protection from hunters, slayers, and humans discovering superhuman races. Cavanaugh Academy is both a school and a shelter to these students.
Cavanaugh Academy may keep students safe from the outside world, but they are not safe from the scandals inside the walls of the school. Like any high school, Cavanaugh Academy is full of gossip, lies, drama, love, hatred, friendship, and chaos. Cavanaugh Academy is full of magic- and it's not always good magic.

Cavanaugh Academy is surrounded by a tall wrought iron fence. The main gate to the school is not without elaborate design. A large sign nearby declares the entrance to Cavanaugh Academy, Est. 1774. The main gate has heavy security protection, for the safety of those inside. All visitors to the school must check in, and all students leaving must have permission and check out at the guard station.
At the center of the main road entering campus, the fountain is one of the most popular meeting spots on campus. The fountain is a gift to the school from the class of 1887, and does not fail to flaunt the wealth and fanciness associated with Cavanaugh Academy. The fountain itself is large, stone, and circular. The water within remains crystal clear (usually), thanks to the landscaping staff.
The courtyard is at the exact center of Cavanaugh Academy. It is surrounded by the tall, red brick buildings. The courtyard has neat sidewalks, tall, lush trees, small bushes and flowers around the edges, and several picnic tables and benches scattered about. It is a popular hang out among the students. Most eat lunch outside, and spend time talking, hanging out, and doing their homework when the weather is nice.
Surrounding the school buildings is a medium-thick forest. There are several clearings hidden about, which make excellent places for secret parties, making out, camping, or just escaping the crowds. Although you might have to trudge through the deep undergrowth and heavy vegetation, it is well worth it to get to one of the secret, quiet spots in the woods. Once or twice a year, the school holds a camping trip out into the woods, and sometimes the older students enjoy scaring the younger students with horror stories about the woods.
There is a small student parking lot, for those who bring their own cars. Only juniors and seniors who have a parking permit from the school office may park in the school's lot. The parking lot is also home to many parties before and after sports games, since buses and other cars park in the same lot as the students. The parking lot is also near to the sports fields and security office.
Aside from fantastic academics and arts programs, Cavanaugh also has incredible sports teams. The school has large fields for football, baseball, soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, and other sports. There is a track that loops around the football field, where the track and cross country teams run daily, as well as other students who want the exercise. During the school day, especially right after classes end, one can hear the shouts and whistle-blowing from the dorms on the other side of campus.
St. Vladmir Chapel has services every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at six in the morning, and Sundays at eight and ten-thirty. St. Vladmir is a Roman vampire saint, an important religious figure for many raised in a traditional non-human household. However, the chapel is not unwelcoming to anyone unfamiliar with the history of nonhuman saints.
The main offices building holds the offices for the principal, vice principal, treasurer, and other non-teaching staff. There are also several meeting room. Students tend to avoid this building, and are rarely seen here unless they are in trouble, having their monthly meeting with their guidance counselor, or getting a pass to leave campus. The building is slightly intimidating-looking, especially to the students who know who is inside the building.
The gym is a very large room – despite the fact that this school is normal in most ways, the gym is perfect proof that it isn’t. There are combat training quarters and defense classes held here as well as the normal volleyball courts and a baseball field outside.
This is where all of the main classrooms are located – from English Literature to Algebra, Biology to Foreign Language, this is where you will probably be staying at for most of your time at this school.
Ah, the elective courses. From magic classes to learning how to control your inner animal, this is where all of the optional classes are located. There is a music wing along with a vast art department.
Cavanaugh Academy's performing arts building was renovated in the early 90's, thanks to a donation from a generous alum. The Sullivan Auditorium and Art Gallery is home to a large theater (seats 2500), a small theater (seats 500), and a large art gallery. There are also a few classrooms, dressing rooms, and storage rooms used by the art, drama, and music departments.
The Howard Library is the largest high school library in the nation. The Howard Library contains everything from endless reference volumes to classic novels to the latest Teen Vogue. There is also a vast selection of books-on-tape, CDs, DVDs, and VHS tapes. The library also has two computer labs and three conference rooms.
Watson Hall is the school's formal dining room. Watson Hall is used mostly for special events, such as dances, parent's week, and alumni visits. Watson Hall is complete with a large dining room, a ballroom, a smaller private dining room, and a humongous kitchen. Aside from special events, Watson Hall is off limits to students.
Graham Student Center is a key to the survival of many Cavanaugh Academy students. The Student Center is open twenty-four seven, except for on certain holidays. The supply store can be found here, always stocked with microwave noodles, vitamin water, granola bars, and slightly stale bakery items. The school's spirit store, which sells Cavanaugh Academy clothing, decor, and other memorabilia, can also be found in the student center. However, the most important part of the student center is the food court. The food court is home to McDonald's, Sanguini's (Italian), Cho's Authentic Chinese Food, Pizza Hut, Coldstone Creamery, and the Cavanaugh Cafeteria. The tables at the food court are centered around a large fountain and plant display in the center of the room.

O'Dell Hall is a large, elegant apartment building near the dormitories. One and two bedroom apartments are rented out to teachers who would prefer to live on campus. The apartments themselves tend to be on the small side, but many teachers and faculty members chose to live here simply because it is close to work.
